Temporary Suspension at Goat Funded Trader Ahead of US Election
Goat Funded Trader has announced a temporary suspension of trading on all live accounts in anticipation of heightened market volatility surrounding the upcoming US elections. Goat Funded Trader implemented this measure as part of its conservative risk management approach to protect traders from unpredictable market conditions.
Prop Firm Goat Funded Trader Halts Live Trading During US Election
In an official statement, the firm notified its traders that trading on live accounts will be unavailable from November 5th at 5 pm UTC until November 6th at 1 pm UTC. The system will automatically close any positions that remain open at this cutoff between 5 pm and 6 pm UTC. Trading activities will resume under normal conditions on November 6th at 1 pm UTC, allowing traders to reenter the market with a more stable outlook following the election.
Importantly, this suspension only impacts live accounts. Traders currently in the firm’s challenge phases will still be able to trade; however, Goat Funded Trader has advised them to proceed with caution. The firm stressed that it would not be liable for any challenge breaches that may occur due to slippage, spread widening, or delayed executions during this high-risk period.
Financial Markets & US Elections
U.S. presidential elections have a well-documented impact on financial markets, influencing assets like the U.S. dollar, commodities, Bitcoin, and stocks. These shifts are largely driven by investor sentiment and expectations around possible policy changes and the economic strategies that new administrations may pursue.
The U.S. dollar is especially reactive during election cycles, often experiencing increased volatility. For example, after the 2016 election, the dollar strengthened significantly as markets anticipated fiscal stimulus and tax reforms from the new administration. In contrast, 2020 saw the dollar weaken amid heightened uncertainties related to the election outcome and the ongoing economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goat Funded Trader’s approach reflects a broader trend within the prop trading industry, emphasizing safety and responsible trading practices during events that could bring extreme market fluctuations.
